Hi Guys and Gals!

Welcome back to my blog!!

I have had a few questions about hair loss and Gastric sleeve - so I thought I would blog about it, as it would be easier.

**PLEASE NOTE - I write about MY experiences - I am in not a professional on the topic **

ALSO NOTE - This post is for everybody - not directed at one gender.

When I was younger, I had a full head of hair that was thick and luscious.

Unfortunately, as I grew older, a lot of my hair started to fall out, leaving thinning patches everywhere - so I was naturally going to lose ALOT of hair after this surgery.

I clean my brushes daily - this is after one brush... Devastating is an understatment...

Hair Loss after brushing hair

I have had SMP done by SMP For Women in Perth, Melbourne & Sydney - Foli Sim (they also do men SMP For Men in Perth, Melbourne & Sydney - Foli Sim ) - this was a few years ago, but it gave me back my confidence with my hair.

Scalp Micropigmentation (SMP) is the cosmetic process of tattooing many tiny dots of pigment onto the scalp with a specially designed needle. A non-invasive and non-surgical solution to hair loss or thinning, SMP is completely customisable depending on your desired outcome.

Most questions I get asked about the proceedure :

Q: Was it expensive ?

A: Depends on what you classify as expensive.

This proceedure can take well over 8 hours and is done in stages.

They offer you payment plans - and sometime, you can be a model for the new students.

Q: Did it hurt?

A: YES it does hurt - but what tattoo doesn't?

Q: Was is it worth it?

A: YES it was.

I have also had my eyebrows tattoo'd by the AMAZING Michelle from Perth Brow Artistry - Perth Brow Artistry | Facebook - I cannot explain how incredible her work is!

So, I will show you...

Thank you Michelle from PERTH BROW ARTISTRY !!

At the moment, I am experiencing quite heavy loss - but I am using the products below (I am not endorsed by these products - I am not trying to upsell etc - these are literally what I use - please note, I have black hair, so if you want to try this out, make sure you choose the right colour for you haha!!)

You DO NOT have to buy them from these sites - you can google them and check it out yourselves <3

This is actually my favourite one - 2 links below - AMBIANCE DRY SHAMPOO

Toppik Hair Building Fibres are ideal for anyone wishing to disguise the appearance of thinning hair. These keratin-derived fibres are safe, and natural and blend undetectably with your existing hair to create the appearance of naturally thicker, fuller hair.

Derived from a natural wool source, the premium Keratin used to create Toppik Hair Fibres is nearly identical to human hair and allows the fibres to blend naturally and undetectably. Toppik Hair Building Fibres have a strong innate static charge that creates a magnetic effect, tightly binding the fibres to even the finest strands of human hair. This bond keeps the Toppik Hair Fibres in place throughout the day. Fibres are resistant to rain, wind and perspiration. They will remain in place until you next shampoo your hair.

Keratin, Ammonium Chloride, Silica, Phenoxyethanol, Chlorphenesin. May Contain: Yellow 6 (CI 15985), Yellow 5 (CI 19140), Red 22 (CI 45380), Red 33 (CI 17200), Blue 1 (CI 42090), Green 5 (CI 61570), Green 3 (CI 42053), Green 6 (CI 61565), Orange 4 (CI 15510)

Unfortunatly, I do get headaches if I leave this on for more than 1 day, as it is derived from wool.

Root Retouchers are also great!!

But if you sweat, they can run.

You can buy them at your local grocery store in the hair dye section - but black is pretty hard to find, so here are some links :

I also have alot of lacefront wigs made by Queenie - Fashion Wigs - Lace Front Queenie Wigs - Page 1 - The Wig Outlet

As I previously said - I am not sponsopered by any of these stores - I am giving you the knowlege I have in hope that it will help you :)

I personally have bought from ALL the above websites, so I know that they are real stores, and they will not scam you.

About 40% of sleeved and bypass patients can have temporary hair loss.

This tends to occur the first 4 to 6 months after the surgery before a slow return (so I have read)

There are some things you can do to help - take biotin and zinc before your surgery - make sure you are taking in enough protein after your surgery, and of course, take the vitamins your surgeon prescribes for you.

Some people swear by it, many do not see any difference

This is a normal response to the stress of the surgery and also significant weight loss.

It's not like clumps of hair falling out and going bald, but for some people, it is quite significant (Like myself) I clean my brush every time I use it -this picture is from brushing my hair - after one usage.

Hair loss can occur for several reasons.

One is because the emotional, physical and hormonal stressors of surgery can cause the life cycle of your hair follicle to shift from Anagen (growth phase) to Telogen (rest phase).

Hair follicles in the "Telogen phase" shed their hair more easily.

Additionally, nutritional deficiencies like protein, zinc, biotin, iron, essential fatty acids, vitamin A and silica can also contribute to hair loss.

So, what can you do about it?

First, don't panic - Understand that this is normal and most likely temporary.

Second, take all of your recommended supplements, especially your protein! Check your labs regularly. If your vitamin A or iron is low, you may need to up your dosage.

And finally - at least for a little while - avoid hairstyles that pull your hair tightly, or treatments like perms or coloring your hair, which can make your hair more prone to breakage.

If you do experince hair loss like mine, please give the above a go! I promise you, you will not regret it.

Now after writing all of this, I feel like I need to do a youtube blog on all these items, so you can all see how easy it is to mask etc.

Let me know what you think!!
